SCHOOL LOCATION
The University of North Dakota (UND) is centrally located in Grand Forks, North Dakota, a vibrant riverside city on the North Dakota–Minnesota border in the Red River Valley. The UND campus sits just a short walk from downtown Grand Forks, where students enjoy a mix of cultural, recreational, and community amenities—including the historic Empire Arts Center, the North Dakota Museum of Art, and the scenic Greater Grand Forks Greenway along the Red River. The city also features parks, trails, and local shops and eateries that contribute to a welcoming college-town atmosphere, with larger metropolitan areas like Fargo roughly 75 miles to the south offering additional arts, entertainment, and urban experiences.
ATHLETICS
The University of North Dakota competes in NCAA Division I athletics as the Fighting Hawks with 17 varsity sports across men’s and women’s programs. Most teams are members of the Summit League, the football team plays in the Missouri Valley Football Conference (FCS), and the men’s ice hockey team competes in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference. UND’s athletic identity includes its mascot, the Fighting Hawk, and its primary colors of kelly green and white, which are proudly worn by student-athletes and fans alike.
