CSUN invites students to take an active role in learning from day one. First-year seminars like University 100 (U100) use small cohorts, reflection and project-based work to build skills for college, life and career while connecting students with mentors and campus resources.

ATHLETICS
California State University, Northridge competes in NCAA Division I as a proud member of the Big West Conference. The university fields 19 varsity sports, including baseball, basketball, soccer, softball, golf, tennis, track and field, volleyball, water polo and cross country.
The teams are known as the Matadors, represented by Matty the Matador, a symbol of determination and school pride. CSUN’s colors—red and black—reflect the energy and unity of the Matador spirit.
Athletic facilities include the Premier America Credit Union Arena for basketball and volleyball, Matador Soccer Field, Robert J. Hiegert Field at Matador Stadium for baseball and the Matador Track & Field Complex, where students and fans come together to celebrate competition and teamwork.
