Such tight-knit communities connect students to faculty, peer mentors, campus resources, and special insights into their program of study.
FIRST-YEAR EXPERIENCES
First-year students have many opportunities to engage with their peers within the first year. Whether that be through a learning community or first-year seminar offered by their specific college, students get a dynamic introduction to the new and exciting aspects of university life.
COOPERATIVE EDUCATION
In 1906, the University of Cincinnati spearheaded the revolutionary educational model that has helped thousands of students gain meaningful work experience and cultivate essential connections. Founded on the value of experience-based learning, the cooperative model pushes students to find work in their field; students complete three to five co-op terms prior to graduation. Co-op students gain valuable experience and unique insight into the daily tasks and responsibilities of their chosen profession.
EQUITY AND INCLUSION
The Division of Equity, Inclusion, and Community Impact strives to recognize the greatness in all students, faculty, and staff by valuing their unique backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. UC addresses issues of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation so that all community members may feel safe and supported on campus.
EXPERIENCE-BASED LEARNING
UC encourages students to make a real difference with their education. Its service-learning courses bring education outside the classroom and into the community. Specific courses with these service-learning components allow students to build their professional networks, add unique experiences to their résumés, and earn course credit, all while changing the world in a small way.
CENTER FOR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Students, faculty, and staff work with community partners to make a positive impact on their communities through meaningful voluntary service. Opportunities range from semester- and year-long opportunities like Bearcat Buddies to short-term opportunities like Days of Service. No matter how big or small, these opportunities reflect UC’s commitment to making the world a better place.
