Engaged Students
At Denison, each student is recognized for their individual value. A Denison education means that no students hide in the back of the class, as they are all encouraged to make themselves known and take advantage of their educational experience. While each student does choose a specific major to study, Denison provides a liberal arts framework on which they can build a solid foundation on which to grow as well-rounded thinkers.

FIRST-YEAR PROGRAM
The First-Year Program at Denison is a mixture of academic and co-curricular experiences. This program teaches students incredibly important and valuable skills, including complex writing, higher-level thinking and conceptualization, and active participation. Students also get the added benefit of one-on-one academic advising and counseling.

SERVICE-LEARNING
Service-learning is an integral part of the Denison experience and can manifest in one of three ways: extracurricular community service, co-curricular service-learning, or curricular service-learning. Co-curricular service-learning functions to increase awareness of important social issues, and curricular service-learning acts as a supplemental addition to an academic course. Whether they perform service in collaboration with an area of study in club or help others through a student-run organization or club, the entire Denison community is making daily strides in the service of others.

STUDENT RESEARCH
Undergraduate Denison students are afforded countless opportunities to involve themselves in research initiatives, no matter their field of study. And, with the additional offering of the Gilpatrick House, student researchers can enhance and support their efforts with unique residential resources. Both summer-term and senior researchers are able to live in this House so that their groundbreaking work is given all the attention it deserves.

STUDY ABROAD
Denison encourages its students to expand their horizons and take their educational journeys beyond the campus itself. The University offers several programs, affording students the opportunity to learn another culture’s customs and values. Adventurous students assess their transformations as they integrate into their new surroundings, witnessing the power of exploration and all the ways it can impact their lives.

Such a commitment makes a large difference in Denison’s educational experience, encouraging students to discover their academic potential in a way that is completely theirs.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT & ENRICHMENT CENTER
Denison’s Academic Support & Enrichment Center functions to support the interaction between faculty and students. It works to help students reach their highest potential through advising and active feedback.

Vibrant Communities

ENGAGEMENT OUTSIDE OF THE CLASSROOM
Denison recognizes that the best college experience is one that transcends the classroom. Because of this truth, the University provides plenty of extracurricular and social activities for students to explore, including 175 organizations that range from Greek life to service and leadership groups. These clubs make it easy for students to fall in love with their campus community, allowing them to be socially fulfilled and, therefore, academically driven.

GREEN CAMPUS
Denison embraces sustainability, aiming to protect and maintain economic, social, and environmental resources throughout the University and beyond. Through research initiatives, investments, and a campus-wide commitment, Denison’s conscious efforts are met with the utmost respect.

SPIRITUAL LIFE
Denison welcomes students of all religions and faiths. There is an open invitation for all to practice their religious beliefs, voice their doubts, and express their ideas in faith and doctrine. With such a welcoming support for all religious affiliations, Denison encourages all of its students to collaborate and learn from one another’s diverse perspectives.

ATHLETICS
Denison is an NCAA Division III school that offers 23 varsity sports. Beyond collegiate athletics, students still have several opportunities to get active through fitness classes and intramural and club sports.

Successful Outcomes
Denison prepares its students to find success in all of their future endeavors, whether those be professional or personal. Within six months of graduation, over 85% of Denison graduates are employed, pursuing graduate school, or engaging in postgraduate service.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT
The Office of Career Exploration & Development and The Gilpatrick Center for Student Research & Fellowships are incredibly important resources for students’ future pursuits. Students can discover and achieve their career aspirations through such services as career advising, on-campus recruiting, internships, externships, résumé and cover letter development, mock interviews, networking, graduate school preparation, and various workshops.

PREPARING FOR SUCCESS
Denison students are equipped with all the tools necessary for their entrance into the workforce. Upon graduation, the majority of Denison students will have had some leadership experience, whether that had been in a class or through an organization. Denison grads are also excellent writers thanks to the University’s emphasis on high-level written communication. Denison takes measures to encourage dialogue and participation between professors and students, thereby bolstering student success as a whole. Thanks to the outstanding caliber of student-faculty interaction, students are much more likely to engage in research initiatives with their professors and have a better grasp of their area of study when they enter the workforce.
