College Highlights
RESEARCH
Pitt-Bradford transforms students’ lives by offering them an array of experiences that help them to develop critical-thinking skills, build their confidence and prepare them for life after graduation. Many students have the opportunity to conduct research as early as their sophomore year and present their findings during the annual Honors Day event. Some undergraduate researchers also have co-written and published papers with their professors. Other students take on internships, giving them a chance to experience the world of work, or study abroad, enabling them to immerse themselves in a different culture and its people.
“I was able to take advantage of opportunities I never would have had at another school. The entire Pitt-Bradford experience has been so integral in shaping who I am and who I will be. That is my absolute favorite part about Pitt-Bradford.” – Selena Benitez-Cuffee of Columbia, MD, a triple major in business management, international affairs, and history/political science

REAL-WORLD LEARNING
Many professors take advantage of the university’s location to lead exciting, hands-on projects for their students. In the Aquatic Biomonitoring class, for example, students monitored the health of streams in the neighboring Allegheny National Forest. Other students are collaborating with the U.S. Forest Service to perform an environmental assessment in the forest, the first step before mountain biking trails are created on the federal lands.
GROUND-BREAKING FACILITIES
There are several exciting areas on campus at which students can get cutting-edge, hands-on experience. Students who major in computer information systems and technology work on projects in their own dedicated labs, including a new virtual reality lab. Criminal justice majors investigate simulated crime scenes and collect evidence like the pros in the Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) House. Nursing students practice their techniques on computerized mannequins in a simulation lab. Students studying psychology practice their counseling techniques and observe other sessions in the psychology lab suite.
