The Right Start
In the first year experience course, students explore a number of topics to help them adjust to college life and prepare them for successful futures. Students learn skills that assist them in integrating with the campus and community, as well as how to navigate the technology used in courses.
The Honors program gives students with an outstanding high school achievement record the opportunity to learn and be intellectually challenged in a community with other scholars. Honors students participate in an academic enrichment program of seminars, forums, and projects. Throughout the program, students study the global aspect of classical literature and writing and decide what country they want to visit. The program culminates in a ten day international trip to the country studied.
Internship and Research Opportunities
Students at the University of Mount Olive are able to gain real-world experience from internships and research projects within their field of study. Internships are required in several majors, providing students the opportunity to apply practical knowledge in their day-to-day experiences. Research projects also provide students an opportunity to work hand-in-hand with faculty members in their field of study as they gain experience that will benefit their future studies and career.

The University of Mount Olive’s beautiful 138-acre campus is nestled in the rural community of Mount Olive, North Carolina. Mount Olive is 60 miles southeast of the capital city of Raleigh, and 75 miles northwest of the coastal town of Wilmington.

Freshmen are required to live on campus. Students have the opportunity to reside in residence halls and apartment-style housing. All areas on campus are within close walking distance.
As a denominational ministry of the Original Free Will Baptists, the University of Mount Olive is committed to educating the student mentally, physically, and spiritually. Weekly chapel services are held, though not required. Several student-led groups are also available to help students grow in their faith and leadership.
Clubs and Organizations
The Campus Activities Board offers fun on-campus activities such as movie nights, socials, and fun games. Off-campus trips have included sporting events, skiing trips, and theatre outings.
A wide variety of student organizations are available providing students the opportunity to get involved and learn leadership skills. Clubs and organizations range from those sponsored by various departments on campus, to student interest organizations, to performance groups.

The Career Center at University of Mount Olive assists students in exploring satisfying career opportunities that match their talents, interests, and goals. Students will receive career counseling, have access to valuable resources, get resume and interview help, and attend job fairs.
Preparation for Success
The University of Mount Olive’s holistic approach to education seeks to educate students and prepare them for life beyond the college classroom. Students are asked to adhere to the University’s covenant, calling each person to demonstrate the virtues modeled by Jesus Christ including honesty, trustworthiness, justice, courage, responsibility, gratitude, and respect. Capstone courses allow students to gain first-hand experience through a senior project that can provide the catalyst for further education or career exploration. Many graduates attend graduate schools upon completion of their bachelor’s degree. Graduate schools attended include University of North Carolina, East Carolina University, North Carolina State University, Duke University, Campbell University, Liberty University, Seton Hall, Lincoln Memorial University, and James Madison University to name a few.

Merit-based scholarships are available for students meeting the requirements set forth by the Office of Admissions. These awards are renewable annually and may require an application process.
- Leaders Scholarship in the amount of $3,000
- Merit Scholarship in the amount of $4,000
- Honors Scholarship in the amount of $6,000
Residence scholarships are available for students receiving a Leaders, Merit, or Honors Scholarship in the amount of $1,200 should they decide to live on campus.
Departmental scholarships are also available in some areas including agribusiness, education, music, art, and science.
