John Mosbo received his Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from Iowa State University in 1973. He came to Gustavus Adolphus College after having served as Provost at the University of Central Arkansas. Before that, he was on the faculty of James Madison University and Ball State University. In addition to working with over thirty undergraduate research students, he has published numerous articles in chemistry journals, made several presentations regarding higher education administration, and served on the boards of a county United Way, a civic dance company, and a church council of a Lutheran congregation. He enjoys bicycle riding and playing his trumpet.
