Oklahoma Wesleyan University models a way of thought, a way of life, and a way of faith. OKWU is a place of serious study, honest questions, and critical engagement, all in the context of a liberal arts community.
The Truth, the Light, and the Way
Oklahoma Wesleyan University is home to students, educators, and administration unapologetic in their commitment to the truth of Christ and the truth of Scripture. OKWU models a way of thought, a way of life, and a way of faith. As a place of serious study, honest questions, and critical engagement, the University seeks to bring together the teachings of Christ, and a classic liberal arts education.
The student experience at OKWU is the University’s number one priority. From academics, to social life, to spiritual life, the possibilities for growth and enrichment are endless!
Passport Weekend: At Oklahoma Wesleyan, student support and encouragement starts before day 1 of class is even in session. Passport Weekend takes place on designated weekends in the summer before students enter their freshman year. During this weekend students get a head start at acclimating to campus, and get to take care of last minute business before classes begin.
Formation of Christian Mind & Person: This exclusive freshman course aims to educate students in basic critical thinking skills, the purpose of a liberal arts education and will connect them with their peers and instructor as they begin their college experience.
Spirit Life Team: This student organization fosters an attitude of servant leadership within the student body through Christ-centered ministries. These ministries include activities such as small group bible study, student-led worship services at the campus Chapel, and community service activities.
Student Mentors: Led by current sophomore, juniors and seniors, Student Mentors help freshman students learn how to navigate the ins and outs of college life. They spend time getting to know freshmen during New Student Orientation and are in Freshman Core Class. They also offer assistance in choosing class schedules, help with studying when need, and answer any other questions that may manifest during a student’s freshman year in college.
The teaching faculty at OKWU has a personal investment in their student’s growth as a scholar and as a whole, Christ-centered person. Oklahoma Wesleyan can boast of much recognition from such organizations as U.S. News & World Report, CBN News, and PBS TV, none of which would be possible without the outstanding faculty and staff employed by the University over the years.
OKWU believes this school’s greatest value lies in the extreme dedication to their students. It isn’t every day that a student finds a university home with unwavering balance between an open pursuit of Jesus Christ, and gaining knowledge and relationships that come from a quality education.

From involvement in churches and schools to numerous clubs and organizations, every citizen pulls together to make Bartlesville a better place to live.

In the University’s eyes, those who graduate from Oklahoma Wesleyan leave with much more than just a diploma, but a greater knowledge of themselves, and of Jesus Christ. As former students head out from their dorms and into the real world, they carry with them the foundations of truth and enlightenment found during their education. OKWU holds dear the Four Pillars associated with their overall mission as an institution of higher learning—both personal and academic. These Four Pillars of success are as follows:
