Wheelock is a remarkable community of people truly committed to improving the lives of children and families throughout the world. From their first semester, Wheelock students learn how to create a world of good - a lesson they never forget.

Since 1888, Wheelock College has been providing a transformational education to students passionate about making the world a better place-especially for children and families.
While most of our students elect to work in the helping professions of education, social work, child life, and juvenile justice and youth advocacy, many pursue, and make exceptional contributions to, a wide variety of professions.
Wheelock offers a unique blend of:
Together, these catalysts for change help our students develop the knowledge, confidence, perspective and drive to pursue personal and professional lives of substance, meaning, and satisfaction anywhere in the world they choose to live and work.
As a highly respected advocate for social policy, Wheelock also helps to shape and strengthen the social systems that positively impact children and families around the globe

Wheelock's Field Experience Office works with students, faculty, and site partners to enrich students' learning and preparation for professional practice through fieldwork, practicum, and internship experiences that are interwoven with the academic program. Our students do their fieldwork in schools, hospitals, community agencies, and programs primarily in the Boston, Brookline, and Cambridge communities. Consistent with our Academic Guiding Principles, the College emphasizes diverse and inclusive settings that build students' capacity to become professionals who work effectively with all of America's children and families.

Wheelock College continues to invest in new, innovative programs. We have introduced an accelerated masters program in Child Life designed to enhance academic credentials and earning potential for graduates who will work with children and families in medical settings. We have also launched a Communications & Media Literacy major and a minor in Sports-Based Youth Development, providing our students with a wider range of job opportunities and career paths.
Wheelock is one of a small number of higher education institutions in the country that has created a multi-department Student Success team focused on providing a wide range of services tailored to your specific academic and learning needs.
These are just some of the ways we are committed to helping you be successful-during college and beyond. We invite you to explore the undergraduate and graduate programs we offer in our Boston and Brookline campuses, at our off-campus locations, and internationally.

Wheelock encourages intellectual exchange and personal growth opportunities through a variety of programs scheduled throughout the year, to include:

Wheelock has always strived to provide a learning experience that transforms students, and alumni often tell us that their experience as undergraduates laid the foundation for much of what they accomplish in their personal as well as professional lives. The Wabash National Study of Liberal Arts Education, in which Wheelock participated along with 41 institutions nationally, showed that the transformation process begins early at Wheelock, with the College making a significant difference in students' sense of wellbeing and their civic mindedness and engagement during their very first year on campus.
The Wabash study is a large-scale, longitudinal study investigating critical factors that affect the outcomes of liberal arts education. The first outcome measures of the study, in the area of psychological well-being, show that among students at 31 small institutions in the study, Wheelock students grew over their first year in college more than any others in their "Self-Acceptance" score and in their "Purpose in Life" score, and they score exceptionally high on growth in "Consciousness of Self" and "Commitment." Similarly, they ranked near the top in growth in "Positive Relations with Others" and sense of "Environmental Mastery." They rank first out of 47 institutions, small and large, in positive change on the scores of "Citizenship" and "Collaboration," and they ranked very high in growth on the Socially Responsible Leadership scale.
The Office of Student Success uses a developmental philosophy and holistic approach to empower students and alumni to reach their educational, professional, and personal goals. Students and alumni are assisted in identifying and reaching these goals through assessment, determining appropriate steps, and utilizing available resources. Student Success is concerned not only with a specific personal or vocational decision but also with facilitating environmental and interpersonal interactions, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Our programs foster engagement in educationally purposeful activities, lifelong learning and shared responsibility.
Undergraduates are offered the opportunity to join with their professors to participate in closely-mentored faculty research projects, learning to design and implement research projects that result in published papers and presentations. Wheelock undergraduates regularly present with their professors at prestigious national and international conferences and have published journal articles and book chapters as co-authors with faculty mentors.

Wheelock College is a 4-year institution founded in 1888 with undergraduate programs in the arts and sciences and human services professions, and graduate programs in the professions.
